Some women question their decision regarding future pregnancies as well as where and with whom they will receive their pregnancy care because of negative experiences that they have had. The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of women regarding poor maternity care services in selected hospitals in Vhembe District, Limpopo province. A qualitative research approach using phenomenology research design was adopted in this study. Pre-testing was conducted. The study population included pregnant women who were admitted in the maternity ward from the selected hospitals. 18 Participants and one hospital (Tshilidzini Hospital) were purposively sampled. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with all sampled participants. Data analysis was interpretative and phenomenological. Measures to ensure trustworthiness which include credibility, conformability, and dependability were applied. Ethical principles were adhered to throughout the study. The study findings are expected to find ways to improve on the quality of maternity care given in public hospitals.
