Since the aspect of human being involves spiritual, social and psychological dimensions, “this technological age” have adjusted the lifestyles in every community, in South Africa, Africa and globally. Amid this, every society is confronted with issues of concerns such as unemployment, family breakdown, poor education system, crime, corruption among others. The high number of suicides among young adults in South Africa have attracted the researcher’s attention for study purposes. The research intends to uncover the underlying factors perpetuating suicide among young adults at selected Mental Institution, Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital, in Pretoria West Gauteng Province, South Africa. For this reason, a qualitative methodology will be used in the study, and the study will adopt descriptive phenomenology research method, using focus group discussion as method of collecting data with semi-structured interviews. The study will consist of 20 participants from Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital between the ages of 18 – 35 years, and purposive sampling as a non-probability sampling techniques will be used to select participants who have the characteristics relevant for the study. The findings were analysed using the five step Hycner’s elicitation process. As part of the solution to the problem, the researcher will suggest strategies aimed at reducing the scourge.
